Zoom is a reliable cloud platform that allows users to collaborate, chat and participate in webinars through video and audio conferencing. There are various plans available, including a free version. To learn more on how to stay connected through Zoom, explore the tips below.
Getting started with Zoom
- If you do not have an existing Zoom account, you may consider creating a free account.
- To create the free account, visit the Zoom website and click “Sign up, it’s free.”
- Download the Zoom app to your desktop, laptop or mobile device.
- Open/run the app and log in using your new credentials.
- Then you may join or host a meeting.
Meetings
Join a meeting as an attendee:
- You may receive an invitation to join a Zoom meeting through email, calendar invitation, hyperlink url or telephone number. Should you wish to join a Zoom meeting through the telephone call feature, you will not have access to see video.
Host a meeting:
- Open the Zoom app.
- Login using your credentials.
- Click the drop-down menu, select “Start with video” and then click “New Meeting.”
- Please note that Zoom allows users to host video conferences from their own devices, and offers a variety of features including:
- Managing participants
- Screen sharing
- Text chatting
- Recording
- Breakout rooms
- More features, depending on your plan.
